Father’s Day provides an opportunity to honor the dads inallofour lives who have helped shape who we are today. It may be our biological fathers, stepdads, grandfathers or even a man who stepped up to serve as a father figure that impacted us the most. They all deserve to be recognized and appreciated.
The Office Dad
At Applegate & Dillman Elder Law we have one dad on staff, Bryan Moore. Bryan is the firm’s Director of Operations. But to 15-year-old Emery and 9-year-old Anaya, he’s known as Dad. Bryan’s planning to spend Father’s Day this year relaxing with his wife and kids at home.
Bryan says his favorite memories as a father revolve around vacationing on the family’s houseboat. He has loved spending time with his wife and children, plus his parents and sister, on the houseboat
“Anaya took her first steps on the boat and I taught Emery how to dive there,” he said.
For those celebrating their first Father’s Day, Bryan offers this advice, “Love your kids hard and make them mind!”
Honoring Our Dads Through Memories
Members of our staff are honoring their dads by sharing their favorite memories. Maria Page, Director of Firm Growth and Development, shared this memory:
“Every year growing up, my dad would choose one day where he would surprise my sister and me by picking us up early from school and we’d have a ‘hooky day.’He’d take us on one adventure or another – boating at the lake, exploring at the zoo, sledding in the winter, road tripping to Kings Island. It was a complete surprise, and always the best day of the year!”
Taylor Bilbrey is one of our Legal Assistants and shares how she and her dad will be forever linked.
“My dad and I took my senior trip together to Fort Myers, Florida -just the two of us – and got matching tattoos of palm trees!”
All of us at Applegate & Dillman wish you a very happy Father’s Day weekend. What’s the best advice you ever received from your dad or your favorite memory? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
